PAM

Parents Agents Multipliers

The PAM (Parents Agents Multipliers) project is a flagship initiative of Africa Girls. This project was created with the support of the Table de concertation Petite Enfance de Parc-Extension, in order to improve the quality of life of children from newly arrived families.

Vision

Empowering parents—and especially mothers—by providing them with a space for learning, community engagement, and skills development.

Through training sessions, workshops, mobilization activities, and hands-on experiences, participants develop their agency, break their isolation, and become cultural ambassadors within their community.
They actively contribute to creating a more welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all families in the neighborhood. Each year, these women help approximately 300 people improve their quality of life.

The essential role of the PAM Network

True power is not the one we take, but the one we create and share.

Faced with the realities of Parc-Extension, the PAM Women’s Network in Africa acts as an innovative response to the needs of immigrant women in the neighbourhood.

The program goes far beyond language learning. It supports participants in:

  • Understanding social norms,
  • Developing self-confidence,
  • Reducing isolation,
  • Creating a sense of belonging to the community.
  • This intercultural, human, and collaborative support constitutes a model of mutual aid and resilience that contributes to building an inclusive, equitable, and supportive community.

Understanding the realities and challenges of Parc-Extension

Parc-Extension is one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in Montreal, bringing together more than 75 ethnocultural communities and more than 40 languages spoken daily. This cultural richness makes it a vibrant place, but faced with several important socio-economic challenges.
